Accessing Committee Archives
The former Senate Local Government Committee had a long standing practice of sending it’s documents to the California State Archives. The Archives currently possesses 83 cubic feet of Committee files dating back to 1967.
Need background information on a bill that was heard in our committee in 1986? Our archived bill files include bill analyses, author statements, support and opposition letters, Legislative Counsel opinions and amendments, press releases, newspaper clippings, correspondence, and staff notes. Researching a local government topic? The Committee’s archived hearing files are a good place to start. The Committee has produced a number of informational hearings to explore important local government issues, such as redevelopment, agricultural land preservation, property tax allocation, and the Orange County bankruptcy. Other materials in the Committee’s records include reports and publications, committee logs, committee correspondence files, and subcommittee files.
A complete inventory of the Committee’s records is available on the Online Archive of California’s website. Here is a direct link: http://content.cdlib.org/view?docId=kt7r29q9n6&doc.view=entire_text&brand=oac
