  • September 27, 2011: With less than two weeks left before the signing deadline, the Governor of California has alot on his agenda. Hundreds of bills await his signature. Among those bills is SB 946 (Steinberg). ABC News has the story.

  • September 8, 2011: In the final days of the legislative session, Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg is pushing a bill that would require health insurance plans to cover treatment for autism. The Sacramento Bee has the story.
     
  • September 2, 2011: A decade ago, fewer than 500 students in Sacramento County schools were placed in special education due to autism.   • August 26, 2011: The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has issued a landmark ruling that calls on insurers to treat mental illness with the same level of care as physical illness. . This page provides relevant articles on subject matter ranging from the combat-like stress mothers of autistic children experience, to news about a University Program helping teens with Asperger's learn to make friends.
