On September 26th 2011, Senator Steinberg held a press event to rally the supporters of SB 946, landmark legislation that would compel health insurance providers to cover Behavioral Intervention Therapy for patients with autism spectrum disorders. Click here to see a video of this event.

It is the equivalent of Insulin for diabetes or chemo-therapy for cancer. It is why we pay for health insurance".

"To all the parents and advocates of equal insurance coverage for autism, all of your hard work is about to pay off here in California! The legislature has heard you. We have done something about it. SB 946 makes it clear that behavioral intervention therapy is a covered medical benefit!"
