Mark Wyland (R) - District 38

Senator Mark WylandSenator Wyland is an acknowledged leader in the California Legislature on policies for economic growth, education, government and fiscal transparency. He has served for more than a decade on the Education Committee in both the Assembly and Senate, and he is currently serving as the Vice Chair of the Senate Education Committee. He also serves on the Budget Committee, the Business and Professions Committee, the Transportation and Housing Committee, and the Labor and Industrial Relations Committee.

Senator Wyland has served in the California Legislature since 2000, when he was elected to the Assembly, representing north San Diego County. He was elected in 2006 to the Senate, where he represents approximately one million people in San Diego and Orange Counties.
Prior to his service in the legislature, Senator Wyland served as a board member and President of the Escondido Union School District board, a district that serves 17, 000 students.

Wyland was a co‐owner of a successful lumber and building materials supply business from 1974 until 2003. He has also served as a board member of his local Chamber of Commerce and YMCA. He continues as a Pomona College trustee, having served on the board for more than a decade.
